From Porlock Post to Whitstone

I had a busy morning inland within Exmoor National Park, the gales blew and heavy showers lashed the moor, as I drove back towards the coast at Porlock.

As I rounded the corner at Porlock Post, as so often happens, the sky was clearing, but the road was blocked! A herd of Highland Cattle was slowly wandering along in front of my car! By the time I’d got my camera, most were on the moor, all bar one mother and calf. Just as I took my first photo, the calf, woolly as a teddy bear, turned around to give me a  very dirty look! This was their territory not mine!

Around another corner there were a herd of Exmoor ponies on the hill ahead, with a foal whooping for joy – airs above the ground came to mind! Sadly, I was looking into the light and couldn’t capture all the frivolity on the brow of the hill.

The light over the bay was breathtaking as I came to the top of Porlock Hill, I pulled across the road and into Whitstone Post where there’s plenty of parking. I couldn’t capture true colours of the storm raging up the channel. Possibly because the 45mph winds were knocking me over!

I hope you like my photos below!
